product description
Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière Fall Winter 2006 Runway Collection: Catwalk Exit 11 Ivory / Ecru Molded Wool Balenciaga 1960's Archive Mod Jacket with Blue Plaid Size 36 FR 100% Wool *** Major THE 2006 Couture Archive Jacket *** Iconic jacket that doesn't come on the market often, especially in a larger size. This will only appreciate in value over time! This jacket is a reedition of a 1960's Balenciaga couture shape that has had slight modifications to modernize the silhouette. Despite this being ready to wear, couture methods were used to produce this collection, which makes the pieces demi-couture. Ghesquière's woman, in her amazing wardrobe of short, molded checked tweed suits with stand-away collars, rounded coats and mind-blowing wrought evening dresses, radiated a powerful modernity. Incredible details and finishes make this is a must have for any collector of Balenciaga. The jacket is cropped and features a rounded, mod shoulder line. There is no shoulder seam. The shoulder has a dropped / raglan fit. The wool blend fabric is stiff and cocoons slightly when worn. The attention to detail is second to none. Notice how even the plaid on the buttons matches the plaid on the pattern! Shoulder to shoulder ~21 inches. Armpit to armpit ~21.75 inches. Sleeves ~18-20 inches (¾ sleeves with no discernable shoulder point because of the lack of shoulder seam). The sleeves are also cuffed internally so there is some fabric to be let out should you choose. Length from the top of the neck to the bottom hem is ~18.5 inches. Very good condition. Light marks / stains on the sleeve (pictures) and a dark stain on the inside that’s not visible from the outside when worn (pictures). Some light pilling. Please note that the fabric creases easily and will likely need to be steamed before being worn.
about BALENCIAGA
The House Of Balenciaga A fashion house founded by Cristóbal Balenciaga in 1918, this Spanish born designer was known for his unmatchable eye to detail in the art of couture making. His pieces showed uncompromising standards which led the designer Christian Dior to refer to Balenciaga as the "the master of us all". Trademarks of Balenciaga's where evident as he progressed. Odd, feminine, yet undoubtedly modern shapes where some of the many. Balenciaga was also known for starting his shows with a Little Black dress in the season's cut, but put to work his architecturally driven mind to derive an ultra modern form of what was once a traditional LBD, into a highly sought after "IT" piece.
